THEATRE FOR ALL. THEATRE FOREVER.
Ensure a lifetime of world-class theatre, locally crafted right here in Bloomington, Indiana by helping Cardinal launch and sustain the Cardinal Stage Endowment Fund.
Your leadership gift is the first and most important step we’ll take towards introducing new generations of Bloomingtonians to the joys of live theatre. Your contribution will live on in perpetuity, guaranteeing the highest-quality theatre for all, forever.
Why an endowment?
The Cardinal Stage Endowment Fund is an investment in the longterm growth and sustainability of our mission. The endowment will yield an annual distribution to Cardinal Stage (about 4% of the total fund balance), providing a reliable source of annual unrestricted income, alongside other sources such as ticket sales, sponsorships, grants and donations.
Should I give to the Endowment Fund in lieu of my regular annual contribution this year?
Please don’t! Annual operating support from our regular donors is essential to Cardinal’s success. If you are a current donor to Cardinal Stage, we thank you for your support and encourage you to continue contributing at a level that’s comfortable for you. However, we hope you’ll consider an additional leadership gift this season to help us establish this important new fund for the future.
Where will the endowment be held?
The endowment will be held in perpetual trust at the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County.
Thanks to a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment to the Community Foundation, Cardinal Stage is eligible to receive $30,000 in additional matching funds for the establishment of the Cardinal Stage Endowment Fund. In order to receive these matching funds, Cardinal must raise $60,000 in new endowment gifts by January 31, 2020 (Note: Multi-year pledges do not count towards the match. However, you can make a gift in 2019 and again in January 2020 to count toward the match.)
