Artist Biographies

Liam Castellan (playwright) directed Charlotte’s Web and acted in The Great Gatsby and The Christians for Cardinal.  He’s also directed Cherry Docs and Church & State for Jewish Theatre of Bloomington and multiple shows for Stages Bloomington.  He’s taught at Cardinal, BAFT, Stages, Hedgerow Theatre, and at IU while earning his MFA in Directing.  At IU he directed The Resistible Rise of Arturo UiThe Exonerated and Rat in the Skull.  Before IU he spent over a decade directing, acting, teaching and producing in the Philadelphia area and beyond.  Take care of each other.  www.liamcastellan.com

 

 

Scott Van Wye HeadshotScott Van Wye (Sherlock Holmes) is happy to be returning to Cardinal Stage! He’s been an avid fan of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson ever since seeing the 2009 Guy Ritchie film adaptation of the classic bromance. Scott would like to thank The Punch Brothers for The Phosphorescent Blues and he would like to not thank the band, fun. for their album “Some Nights.” Love to Mom and Dad.

Leraldo Anzaldua HeadshotLeraldo Anzaldua (John Watson) is a Houston, TX based Actor, Motion Capture for Film and Video Games, Anime Voice Over Artist and Fight Director with the Society of American Fight Directors. He is a voiceover talent of over 100 characters with Sentai Filmworks with most prominent roles including: Ken/ G-1 –Gatchaman; Takashi- High School of the Dead; Ralph Halo Legends, Noda- Angel Beats, Kei Tsukishima – Haikyu!;Ryo Kurokiba – Food Wars! and Yuta Togashi – Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions. With Funimation: Largo – One Piece and many more. He has many titles currently on Netflix, Hulu and Cartoon Network/Adult Swim. He has been a motion capture performer and fight director with Sony Pictures in Tokyo, Japan. He has been a Motion Capture Fight Director & Talent for video games in Stockholm & Uppsala, Sweden. He has received a Master’s Degree in Acting from the University of Houston. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Movement and Stage Combat with the Dept of Theatre, Drama & Contemporary Dance at Indiana University.   

Maria Souza HeadshotMaria Argentina Souza (Emma Schmidt) is thrilled to be a part of this Radio Play! She was previously seen at Cardinal Stage in The Great Gatsby as Jordan Baker. Other pandemic credits include: Pam (The Violet Sisters), Servant (HELEN), and Tarou (The Plague). She can’t wait to get back on stage when it is safe to do so.

Megan Massie HeadshotMegan Massie (Gregson) is a film, stage and voiceover actress located in Louisville, KY. A self-professed Anglophile, she is absolutely chuffed to join the Sherlock Holmes universe in Cardinal Stage’s intriguing Indiana installation! Recent theatre roles include Romeo & Juliet (Julietand Macbeth (Lady Macbeth) with Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, Dracula (Lucy) with Actors Theatre of Louisville, and Lawbreakers (Alice Paul) and The Right Shoes (Hannah), both world premieres, with Stage One Family Theatre. On-screen you can see her in the upcoming family film Adeline and season 2 of the Youtube web series Bagged and Bored. She is currently the voice of Premier Bank, Sara Lee Selections and Greenberg Lasik. Love to Kyle and the kittens!

Maggie McLeish Williams HeadshotMaggie McLeish Williams (Violet Hunter) is an Indianapolis-based performer delighted to be making her Cardinal Stage debut. She has previously appeared at the Indiana Repertory Theatre, Alley Theatre, Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre, and several other Indiana playhouses. Her favorite past onstage roles include Dorothy (The Wizard of Oz), Kitty (Pride and Prejudice) Peter (Peter Pan), Fredrika (A Little Night Music), and Abigail (The Crucible). Offstage, she has appeared in and lent her voice to a number of short films and advertisements. Maggie studied theatre at Ball State University and received her bachelor’s degree in 2019. She is a lover of travel, nature, museums, tabletop roleplaying games, and of course, dogs.

Steve Scott HeadshotSteve Scott (Fred Porlock) has performed in over a dozen of theater and voice acting productions in Bloomington.  He appeared in Bloomington Playwrights Project’s performances of  “30 Day Mourning Period” (Larry), “Beating A Dead Horse” (Fritz), and “The Oregon Trail” (Clancy).  His last stage appearance before the pandemic was as serial killer Ralph Ian Wantage in Monroe County Civic Theater’s production of Bryony Lavery’s “Frozen”.  Steve also voiced the character’s Dick and Denver in Indiana Public Media’s “The Ernie Pyle Experiment”.  This is his first Cardinal Stage production.

Robert Hornbostel HeadshotRobert Hornbostel (Sound Designer & Editor) is thrilled to join Cardinal Stage in inviting you all on this dramatic storytelling adventure in our new reality. He believes strongly in supporting artistic endeavors that reimagine the theatrical medium in this new paradigm, and thanks you all for your continued support of the arts. Emily Nehus HeadshotEmily Nehus (violinist) studied violin and music education at IU Jacobs School of Music with Ik Hwan Bae, Brenda Brenner, Mimi Zweig and Stanley Ritchie, and has taught violin lessons and group classes for JSOM String Academy since 1998. Emily also studied violin with Tiberius Klausner at UMKC Conservatory and holds a BA degree in English from Grinnell College. In 2010 she created the Bloomington Project School’s Strings Program, where she happily fostered creative skills and musical chaos for seven years, including directing and performing in the Fiddler on the Roof band. Emily is the IU Astronomy Graduate Secretary, and thanks her department for supporting her musical and theatrical projects.  She lives with her husband Scott Grieb and son Tyler Grieb in Trailview Neighborhood on Bloomington’s Near West Side and is delighted that the Walkabout Radio Plays are set along her daily walking routes!

Emily performs with Cardinal Stage Theatre (Les Miserables, 1776, Shrek, West Side Story, Oliver, Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, Newsies) and IU Theatre (Into the Woods, Big Fish), and with vocal groups Quarryland Mens’s Chorus and Voces Novae. Orchestral experience includes guest concertmaster of the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra, principal second violin of the Marion Philharmonic, and section violinist with Columbus, Evansville, Owensboro and Fort Wayne Philharmonics. Emily played Renaissance and modern strings and woodwinds for six seasons with the Utah Shakespeare Festival, appearing in the nightly Greenshow and onstage in The Winter’s Tale, Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, Cyrano de Bergerac, The Merry Wives of Windsor, and The Shoemaker’s Holiday
